Respiratory kinesiotherapy consists of a set of manual therapeutic techniques that aim to recover respiratory function, through the drainage of secretions.
It is indicated for the treatment of respiratory infections that cause pulmonary secretions, hindering the transport of oxygen.
Treatment maneuvers aim to mobilize and expel these secretions and consist of thoracic and abdominal manipulation, which, by altering the respiratory flow, mobilizes the secretions, forcing them to rise until they are expelled through coughing.
The results are immediate, with a significant improvement in symptoms.
It is a technique widely used in babies, in cases of bronchiolitis, to help mobilize secretions and facilitate their elimination.
Other pathologies where respiratory kinesiotherapy is also used: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, cystic fibrosis, pneumonia, interstitial lung disease and pulmonary fibrosis.
