Non-manipulative Osteopathy

What is Non-Manipulative Osteopathy?

Non-manipulative osteopathy is a form of osteopathic therapy that first approaches gentle, non-invasive techniques to treat the underlying dysfunction.

Unlike traditional osteopathy, which involves manipulative movements of joints and soft tissues, non-manipulative osteopathy primarily uses gentle mobilization, stabilization, and stretching techniques to restore balance and function to the body.

These techniques may involve using the therapist's hands to apply gentle pressure, traction, or stretching to various areas of the body, including muscles, joints, ligaments, and tendons.

O objetivo é promover a circulação sanguínea, relaxar os músculos tensos, aliviar a dor e melhorar a função geral do corpo.

As a last resort, manipulation can be applied if all the techniques previously applied have not been effective in solving the problem.

Non-manipulative osteopathy is often utilized as part of a complementary treatment for various conditions such as back pain, muscle pain, sports injuries and postural disorders.

It is a holistic approach, which considers the body as an interconnected whole and focuses on treating not only the local symptoms but also the underlying causes of the problems in question.

Other techniques can be used in conjunction with osteopathic techniques, such as dry needling, cupping, among others.
